Screen-print conversions ship as press-separated AI + EPS + PDF, with each ink on its own layer. Standard deliverables: PMS spot-color fills, CMYK halftones at 45° / 65 lpi, underbase layer with choke, choke + spread on all overlapping layers, and knockout mask where required. Tier 2 simple 2-color apparel logos at $35. Tier 4 photorealistic 8-color halftone builds at $145.

File formats
Separated .ai (CC 2018+), .eps, press-ready .pdf. One file per separation on request.
Color matching
PMS Solid Coated by default. CMYK process builds available. We ask your ink brand (Union, Wilflex, Rutland) and match accordingly.
Halftones
45° / 65 lpi standard for 110 mesh. Custom angle, frequency, and shape (round, elliptical, diamond) available — specify when you order.
Underbase
Included on all light-on-dark jobs. Choke applied at 0.5 pt by default. We'll note if a heavier choke is recommended for the substrate.
Choke + spread
Applied to all overlapping spot colors to prevent halo at 0.5 pt. Bump to 1 pt for discharge or water-based inks — just ask.
Registration
Crosshair registration marks on each separation layer at print size. Auto-stripped from the final customer-facing PDF.

Common questions, answered.

Do you include halftones in the color separation?
Yes. Halftones are included on any job that needs them. We default to 45° / 65 lpi for 110-mesh white. Specify your mesh count, angle, frequency, and dot shape (round, elliptical, diamond) at order time and we'll match your press setup exactly.
Do you do underbase layers for dark garment printing?
Yes. Underbase is included on all light-on-dark jobs. We apply a 0.5 pt choke by default to prevent halo. For discharge or water-based inks that need more room, just note it and we'll bump to 1 pt.
Can you do CMYK process builds as well as spot color?
Yes. We do both PMS spot-color separations and CMYK process builds. Specify when you order which method you need — CMYK process includes halftones for each channel at your specified lpi and angle. Hybrid (spot + process) builds are also supported.
What file format works best for screen printing RIP software?
We deliver separated AI (CC 2018+) and press-ready PDF as standard. Most RIP software (Wasatch, Caldera, Ergosoft) reads layered PDF natively. We can also export one file per separation on request, which some older RIPs prefer.
What ink brand do you use for color matching?
We match to PMS Solid Coated by default. Note your ink brand (Union, Wilflex, Rutland, or other) when you order and we'll reference their PMS conversion charts. For plastisol on black, we automatically plan underbase and choke for your specified ink system.
