Convert EPS to DXF with paths that actually close.
Trace it below to see where auto-trace breaks — then let a human deliver closed, single-line, correctly scaled DXF from your EPS, layered for your laser, router or plasma table.
The short answer
An EPS is often vector already, and then you may not need us: open it in Illustrator or Inkscape, check the paths, and export DXF yourself. It needs a rebuild when the EPS holds an embedded bitmap, when its paths are open, doubled or stacked for print, or when the type was never outlined. Upload the EPS itself and a designer delivers closed single contours, a kerf offset and one layer per operation, at the correct scale, in 24 hours.
An EPS built for print cuts wrong even when it's vector.
EPS is a PostScript format made for printing, and print artwork hides problems that never show on paper. Designs are often built from stacked shapes, white drawn over black to look like a cutout, and a cutter sees every one of those outlines as a cut. Old EPS files carry open or self-intersecting sub-paths, strokes instead of filled outlines, type that was never outlined, and sometimes no real vector at all: a bitmap wrapped in PostScript with a low-res preview on top. EPS also measures in points, while many DXF readers assume millimeters or inches, so an import can land at the wrong scale.
We open the EPS, keep the geometry that's sound and fix what isn't: stacked shapes merged into true cutouts, every path closed and single, type outlined, bridges added where the centers of letters like O and A would drop out of a stencil or plasma cut, a kerf offset sized to your tool, and cut, score and engrave on separate layers. Anything that turns out to be a bitmap is redrawn by hand. You get native DXF at 1:1 scale, in the version your software reads, plus SVG.

We check and rebuild
A designer keeps the sound vector, closes and merges paths, and redraws any bitmap.

Can I convert EPS to DXF myself?
Often, yes, if the EPS is real vector. In Illustrator, open it and use File > Export > Export As, choosing AutoCAD Interchange File (DXF). In Inkscape, open it and save as Desktop Cutting Plotter (AutoCAD DXF R14). Before exporting, press Ctrl/Cmd+Y in Illustrator for Outline view: if the art turns into wireframe paths, it's vector; if it shows as an empty box with an X, it's a placed bitmap and exporting won't give you cut paths. The instant tracer reads PNG, JPG, HEIC and WebP, so it can't open an EPS.
Why does my exported DXF cut extra pieces?
Because print artwork is built in stacked layers. A white circle drawn over a black one looks like a ring on screen, but the DXF holds both outlines, and the cutter cuts both. The fix is to merge them into one compound path with a real hole, which is what Pathfinder does in Illustrator. Outlined strokes cause a similar problem: two cuts a hair apart where you wanted one.
Why is the part the wrong size after import?
EPS measures in points, 1/72 of an inch. Many DXF files carry no unit at all, so the CAM software guesses, and a part drawn in inches but read as millimeters comes in 25.4 times too small. Set the scale in the export options, or tell us the units your machine uses and we deliver the DXF at 1:1 with the dimensions checked.
What about letters with centers, like O, A or B?
On a through-cut, the centers of those letters drop out. For plasma and stencil work we add bridges that hold them in place, or switch to a stencil-style letterform if you prefer. For engraving or a laser score the centers stay put, so tell us how the part will be cut.
How fast is an EPS to DXF rebuild?
24 hours standard, 12-hour rush, or 3-business-day flex, with a 100% remake guarantee.
