Awards · Plaques · Glass etching

Vector logos for awards and etching, drawn in one color.

Send the logo you have — a JPG from a website, a full-color PNG, a photo of last year's plaque. A designer redraws it as solid one-color vector art your laser, engraver or sandblast stencil can reproduce cleanly. You or your award vendor make the award; we prepare the file.

The short answer

Awards, plaques and etched glass are marked in one color, so the logo has to be reduced to solid shapes with closed paths: no gradients, no photo detail. VectorWiz redraws the logo by hand for laser-engraved plaques, rotary engraving and sandblasted glass and crystal, with letter counters a stencil can hold and a reversed version for dark plates when you ask for one. Every order ships as AI, EPS, SVG and PDF, priced per job from $19 by complexity, with a 24-hour standard turnaround.

What the designer does

One color, solid shapes, ready for the award.

An award is marked in one color: the laser, the engraving bit or the sandblast either takes material away or it doesn't. The designer rebuilds your logo as solid vector shapes that hold up to that, at the size the plate or the glass really is.

One-color reduction
Gradients, shadows, glows and photo detail are redrawn as solid shapes or left out, and the designer decides which edges carry the mark. A two-color logo becomes one color without its second color simply vanishing.
Closed paths
Every shape is a closed vector path with no overlaps, stray points or open ends, so a stencil cutter, a photoresist exposure and a laser fill all read it the same way.
Stencil islands
The counters of letters — the middle of an O, an A or an R — are islands a sandblast stencil has to hold. Where one is too small to stay on the glass, the designer tells you and proposes a fix before touching your logo.
Fine lines and small type
Hairlines and plaque-size text are checked against the narrowest line your film, mask or laser holds. Send that minimum with the order; anything thinner is flagged, not quietly thickened.
Positive and reversed
Ask for a reversed (negative) version in the order notes and it is drawn as its own file, for dark anodized plates, black-coated drinkware or any surface where the mark shows as bare material.
Files and revisions
.ai, .eps, .svg and .pdf with every order, ready for your engraving, stencil or etching software. Revisions are unlimited until the file is right.
Pricing

Priced by what the logo asks of the designer.

Four complexity tiers. Upload the file and the estimator shows the tier and price before checkout; a designer confirms the tier.

Tier 1 · Simple

Wordmarks and one-color marks from a readable file — the typical nameplate or plaque header.

5 credits · $19

Tier 2 · Medium

Flat multi-color logos reduced to one color, badges and seals with standard type — most corporate award logos.

15 credits · $57

Tier 3 · High

Detailed crests, seals with fine rings of text, and logos with gradients or shading to rebuild as solid shapes.

30 credits · $114

Tier 4 · Complex

Full illustrations and intricate emblems, or artwork rebuilt from a photo of an existing award or plaque.

50 credits · $190

Rush (12 hours) adds 50%; Flex (3 business days) takes 10% off. Shops on a monthly plan pay in credits instead of per job.

Why award artwork goes wrong

What the laser and the blaster do to a bad file.

Engraving and etching reproduce every edge in the file, in one color, often smaller than a business card. These are the problems that cost a plate or a piece of crystal.

Blobby auto-traces

Auto-tracing a soft JPG and then forcing it to one color fills the gaps between letters and rounds every corner. On a plaque the logo comes out as a blob; on glass the stencil can't be weeded.

Gradients and shadows

A laser or a blaster has no grey. Gradients turn into dither noise or a solid patch, and drop shadows become a second, heavier outline around the logo.

Islands that fall out

Letter counters and small enclosed shapes are separate pieces of stencil. Too small, and they lift during blasting and the inside of the O frosts over.

Small plaque type

Names, dates and titles on a plaque are small. Type that looks fine on screen can close up or break apart when the laser or the sandblast reproduces it.

Tones that flip on dark plates

Marking a dark anodized plate or a coated tumbler exposes bright metal, so light and dark swap. A logo with white knocked-out detail needs a reversed version drawn on purpose, not an inverted file.

When your vector is already fine

If you already have a clean vector logo, you may only need a one-color version, not a redraw, and your own designer may be able to make it. If not, send the vector and say so in the order notes.

One logo, one color

Same mark, different surfaces.

FAQ

Award and etching artwork, answered.

Our award vendor asked for a vector logo. What do they need?

Usually a one-color vector file — AI, EPS, SVG or PDF — with solid shapes and closed paths. Their engraving, laser or stencil software reads those shapes directly and marks them at the real size of the plaque or glass. A JPG or a full-color PNG leaves the shop to reduce it to one color themselves, which is where logos come out blobby. Send us what you have and forward the files we deliver.

Why does my logo look blobby when it's reduced to one color?

Because it was auto-traced from a soft image. Tracing software follows the blur, so gaps between letters fill in, corners round off and small text melts together. Forcing the result to one color makes every one of those faults visible. A designer redrawing the logo by hand decides where each edge really is, so the one-color version keeps the shapes of the original.

Can you prepare artwork for sandblasted glass and crystal awards?

Yes. A sandblast stencil, whether photoresist film or a cut vinyl mask, needs closed paths, lines thick enough for the stencil to hold and letter counters big enough to stay put while blasting. Tell us the stencil method and its minimum line width in the order notes and the file is drawn to it. We prepare the artwork file; the blasting, etching and finishing stay with your shop or award vendor.

Do I need a reversed version for dark anodized plates?

Sometimes. Marking a dark anodized plate or a black-coated tumbler exposes bright metal, so light and dark swap. A plain one-color mark usually reads fine either way, but a logo with white knocked-out detail can come out inside-out. Ask for a reversed (negative) version in the order notes and it is drawn as its own file, not just inverted.

How is this different from your engraving service?

This page is about the artwork: a logo reduced to clean one-color shapes for plaques, trophies, glass and drinkware. The engraving service covers laser machine setup — single-line fonts, LightBurn layers and depth passes. If a job needs both, say so in the order notes and the file is prepared for both.

I already have a vector logo. Do I still need a redraw?

Maybe not. If your vector is clean and only needs a one-color version, your own designer may be able to make it. A redraw earns its keep when the vector is really an auto-trace, has gradients and effects built in, or has type and details too fine for the plaque size. If you're unsure, send it and say so in the notes.

How much does it cost?

Per job, by complexity, across four tiers — $19 / $57 / $114 / $190. A one-color wordmark for a nameplate starts at $19; a detailed crest or a rebuild from a photo of an existing award sits in the upper tiers. Upload the file and the price shows before checkout.

How fast will I get the file?

Standard is 24 hours. Rush is 12 hours for 50% more, and Flex is 3 business days for 10% less. Revisions are unlimited until the file is right.
